Adding or Removing Weeks/Topics

Moodle allows you to display your content using containers called Topics. By default, there are 17 topics per course, but you can modify this amount. Please refer to the steps below to adjust the amount of topics or weeks in your course. To add or remove the number of topics one at a time, use the + or - buttons at the very bottom of the page.

 To select the number of topics from a drop-down list, follow the steps below:

  1. Login to myPlymouth
  2. Select the myCourses tab and the myCourses window appears.
  3. In the center column, select your class title from the appropriate semester category in the myCourses channel. You should now be looking at your course's homepage.
  4. Scroll down to the Course administration area in the Adminstration block (left sidebar).
  5. Select Edit settings.
  6. In the Course Format area there is a drop down box for Number of sections.
  7. This will not be visible if Single activity format or Social format is selected.
  8. Open this menu and select the appropriate number of weeks or topics.
    • The default for your course is 17. However, you may use up to 52 weeks or topics.

9. Once you've made your selection, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save changes.
