Adding a Telephone Line

To add a new telephone line, PSU budget managers must contact the ITS help Desk. There is a one-time charge of $85 which covers the following:.

All phones are 16 Button digital phones and the connection fee covers the following:

  • Activation of a new phone number including handset if needed.
  • Upgrading from an analog phone to a digital phone
  • Phone programming and voicemail activation
  • Pricing is not applicable to a VoIP installation
  • If 24 button phone is required the one-time charge is $105

All requests for new lines must be submitted via the ITS Helpdesk or online via the Self Support Ticket system (see link at the bottom of this page). Please be prepared to provide the following in order to facilitate service:

  • The name of the person who should be listed in the directory at the new number, and the department they are assigned to.
  • The building and room number for the install.
  • The jack number (located on the wall outlet) in the location of the install.
  • A FOAPAL and the name of the budget manager responsible for payment.

As part of the standard service ITS provides a maximum of two “drops” per office (or cubical). A drop is defined as a jack with connectivity for one voice line and two data lines. Adding additional or physically relocating existing drops within a space will incur a drop installation charge ($200) and are in addition to the base fee above.

Installation charges for new construction or a space remodels are sometimes covered as part of the project budget. However, ITS requests that they be included in space planning prior to construction in order to assess whether it may be more cost advantageous to departments to have the work done internally by PSU.
