IMPORTANT: Please keep us in the loop as your plan your Summer Office Moves
Posted by Jo-Ann Guilmett on 22 May 2018 08:16 AM

Once again it looks like a busy summer at Plymouth State with a number of office moves and program shifts to accommodate our transition to Clusters and to improve services for our students.  In order for us to help make your move as smooth as possible, it is essential that you keep ITS in the loop!

  1. Computers and other technology devices such as monitors, docking stations, etc. are assigned to employees in the campus technology inventory system.  They MAY NOT be re-assigned or handed off to new users or new programs without ITS involvement.   Our data security requirements require that these systems be reimaged in order to ensure that University data is appropriately protected.  Additionally, the campus technology inventory system must be updated to reflect the reassignment of any technology equipment.  Please email helpdesk (at least a full week in advance) with the following info:
    • Device description and current employee/program owner
    • Device serial number
    • PSU Inventory Tag number
    • Current device location (building/room) and new device location (building/room)
    • New employee/program owner

  1. In order to ensure that you have working telephone and network services in your new location, you will need to email helpdesk (at least a full week in advance) with the following info:
    • Employee name
    • Old building/room number moving to new building/room number
    • Data jack ID used in old office, new data jack ID to be used in new location
    • Telephone number, Phone jack ID used in old office, new phone jack ID to be used in new location
    • What technology equipment is moving (laptop, Monitor, docking station, etc.)

  1. An email to the helpdesk is also needed if you are moving other shared office equipment that utilizes data or telephone systems, such as fax machines, network Printers, MFD copier/printers.  Please email helpdesk (at least a full week in advance) with the following info:
    • Device name/type
    • Old building/room number moving to new building/room number
    • Data jack ID used in old office, new data jack ID to be used in new location
    • Phone jack ID used in old office, new phone jack ID to be used in new location

Like all of you, our ITS staff is also looking forward to some vacation time this summer.  Therefore, advance notice of any of these moves and shifts is greatly appreciated and will help us ensure that we have the appropriate technologists available to assist.

As always if you have questions or concerns, please contact the Help Desk.
