A few important Tech Tips as the school year finishes.
Adobe Creative Cloud 2019: PSU now has a new and improved way to install Adobe Creative Cloud 2019 Software on your PSU-owned computers. Adobe created a Creative Cloud (CC) Launcher that you can install on your computer. Once the CC Launcher is install, you can update or install all the available PSU licensed Adobe products. Removal of Moodle courses: Per our PSU policy for Online Learning at Plymouth State University, Moodle courses will be maintained on the Learning Management System (LMS) for three years, at which time they will be removed. Effective Monday, August 5th at 5:00 pm, all course content prior to Fall 2016 will be removed from Moodle. Course instructors are responsible for backing up and storing courses that they wish archived. Please find instructions on how to back up a course here. If you need assistance with this process, please contact the Help Desk at (603)535-2929 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that to enable course backups, we will temporarily turn on the Restore functionality in Moodle. Please avoid using Restore to import course content from one course to another, as this can remove enrolled students from your course. Instead, use the Import process.
Phishing and email Scams: Semester breaks are a time when we typically see a significant increase in the amount of Phishing and other Scam messages. Phishers / Scammers take advantage of the busy time of year in the hope of conning people out of their usernames, passwords, money and other personally identifiable information. Please remain diligent! Remember, Plymouth State University will never ask you to provide your log-on credentials via a link in an email. When in doubt, contact the Help Desk.
Before you leave for the summer, check the status on your PSU Password: Is your myPlymouth password due to expire this summer? (You can check by hovering your mouse over the Change Password link in myPlymouth.) Passwords for PSU employees must be changed every 180 days and it is a good idea to make that change before leaving campus for the summer. This will ensure proper synchronization of your password and help prevent any unexpected connectivity issues.
Let students and colleagues know you will be away:
Use the built in Out-of-Office Auto Responder in the myOffice365 to let students and other colleagues know when you will be away from your email for a period of time. Also, please record an away message for your voicemail. In addition, you may find it helpful to review our IT Guide for Working while Traveling documentation, especially if you plan to travel with your PSU owned laptop this summer.
Lamson Library and Learning Commons Summer hours:
The summer building hours for the Lamson Library and Learning Commons (including the ITS Help Desk*) begin on Sunday, May 12th through August 24th.
Monday – Friday: 8 am – 5 pm
Saturday and Sunday: 1 pm – 5 pm
The fall building hours begin August 25th. Detailed information about Library and Learning Commons hours are located on the Library website at: http://library.plymouth.edu/hours
*(Requests for IT support: help desk tickets and critical issues, which occur outside the posted library building hours, will be monitored and addressed as needed)
